I have notice when I create a line, either cursor point to cursor point or using create parallel etc. the new line is extended across the whole page.

Normally it would be defined by the points to create the line or the new line using parallel would be the same length as the source line?

Can anyone advise if this can be resolved ??

It sounds like you've accidently toggled the Line Limits setting. Go back to Edit>System Settings>Line Limits and click it again. :)
